Texas Sheet Cake

  • 2 c flour
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 c water
  • 4 tbsp cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c sour milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

In large bowl, mix first 4 ingredients. In saucepan, bring to boil margarine, water, and cocoa. Add to dry ingredients and mix well. In small bowl, beat eggs, milk, and vanilla. Add to other ingredients and mix well. Pour into 10×15 greased or foil-lined cookie pan and bake at 375 degrees for 16-20 minutes. (Use vinegar to sour the milk if you don’t have any sour milk on hand.)

About half way through cooking time make the frosting.

Texas Sheet Cake Frosting

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 4 tbsp cocoa
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 1 box 10x sugar (confectioners sugar, a one pound box)
  • 1/2 c walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Bring first 3 ingredients to a boil . Remove from heat and add last 3 ingredients. Beat well. Frost while cake is hot.
