Oatmeal Cake

1 c oatmeal
1 1/3 c boiling water
1/2 c soft butter(1 stick)
1 c brown sugar
1 c white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 rounded tsp baking powder

Pour water over oats, stir, and let stand for 20 minutes. Mix margarine, sugar, brown sugar, and eggs well, then add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and baking powder. Mix well again, then add oatmeal and mix well.
Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan, bake at 350 degrees about 25 minutes or until done.

Oatmeal Cake Topping

1/2 c soft butter
1 1/3 c brown sugar
1/2 c half&half or canned milk
1 c coconut
1/2 c chopped nuts

Mix together and spread on hot cake, brown in oven at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes until bubbly
