Date Nut Bread

2 loaves

1 c chopped dates
2 tsp baking soda
2 c boiling water
2 c sugar
2 tbsp melted butter
2 eggs
4 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 c chopped nuts

In a small bowl, mix dates, baking soda, and water, stir well and let cool.
In a large bowl, mix sugar, butter, and eggs, then add flour and salt and mix well.
Add nuts and the cooled date mixture (including the water), mix well, and pour into greased and floured or foil-lined bread pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
